The Fab 4 Beers of El Salvador
I enjoy trying beverages in every country I visit and my expertise in El Salvador was no different. The beers of El Salvador are tasty and refreshing Although other countries produce a few of the own rums and whiskeys.
During the last few days both my driver and guide encouraged me to try several of the country’s famous beers (not that they had to yank my leg to do it.)
So here are the fab 4 plus one limited edition.
This is thought to be El Salvador’s domestic beer since everyone drinks it, so it is regarded as one of the most well-known beers of El SalvadorĀ Think of Budweiser in the States, Pilsener Urquell in Czech, Gallo in Guatemala and Balbao in Panama. You can find this beer everywhere you seem and it is perfect for a day at the beach or simply hanging out with friends. I like the smoothness and lightness, but notably the affordability factor of this beer. Pilsener typically costs $1 in stores and $1.50-$2.50 in restaurants. The unofficial national beer of El Salvador must strive when you come.
This is called the king of beers. It costs than Pilsener and can be served everywhere. Drinking Suprema is a luxury for most working class El Salvadorians, so a prestige is undoubtedly connected with purchasing it. As I have heard from my friends here- girls dig.
Similar in flavor to a Miller Light, Golden Light is the girls’ beer. It’s light and lessens the danger of hangovers. I actually enjoyed this beer, although the most manly of men would not dare to order a Golden Light in a public location better. Pilsener is my own favorite.
Great beer that most folks consider to be on the lower-end. Regia is tastier than Pilsener, but it is hard to find in many restaurants. Regia is marketed in the working class, which does not really mingle in restaurants and bars. It comes in 40 oz. Glass also in cans and bottles. I attempted Regia one in Santa Tecla. Find and our waiter actually had to leave it at another pub. 20 minutes after he returned along with my petition. The 40 oz cost me about $3.50. In stores it costs about $1.30.
*LIMITED EDITION: This really is a limited edition beer. It is basically a Suprema spin-off that has a cherry flavor. It is only sold to March. It costs about $1.40 in supermarkets, that’s the only place they are sold.
Here’s a tasting I did on Lake Coatepeque at my friends house.
